Industrialisation of our country has great impact on the economy and enhancement of living standard of people. With growth of demand in every sector, there is need for consistent growth in production of goods coupled with new technologies required to meet the demand. From the economic point of view such growth is a very positive sign for a prosperous nation, but at the same time growth without considering the environmental impact of it may pose as a deterrent to further progress.
Appropriate and judicious use of technology for preservation of natural resources, recycling of waste, reduction in consumption are key factors to overcome the possible imbalance and to attain sustainable livelihood.
Increasing productivity of assets, enhancing capability of communities through socio-technical empowerment, improvement of communication for better use of scientific and technological advancements, trans-disciplinary research with Society-Institute interaction are some of the key strategies for wider use of technologies for development of sustainable development. Synergy between traditional, local knowledge and the advanced researches on science and technology can play a very crucial role.
